Below you will find the slideshow and map for the 5-day trip Brooke and I took to Zion National Park in May of 2009 with her cousin Byronn and his wife Allison. Shamefully, I never got around to authoring this trip. In short, the slideshow will kind of walk you through this trip and its three days of day hikes. Our first day consisted of hiking to the Emerald Pools (where Brooke accidentally triggered the "delete all" function on her dad's camera) and Hidden Canyon. On the second day we managed to slowly (and painfully) ascend to the very top of the canyon to Observation Point, approximately 3,500 feet above the valley floor. We then retraced our steps back to the Emerald Pools on the third day, to recapture those images, and then made our way to the northernmost terminus of the canyon, The Narrows. In between all of the hiking we successfully managed to eat glorious dinners and imbibe in equally glorious local beer in the town of Springdale, UT, and also utilized the healing powers of our hotel's pool and hot tub to recuperate from the rigors of desert hiking. It was the most visibly stunning place I've ever been to, and Springdale was a town I want to return to with Brooke and our kids. It is literally the perfect vacation spot for outdoorsy families, and I can't wait to show the boys where their Mom & Dad hiked!
