This past weekend was our inaugural Glen Ellis Campground weekend, and it is surely a place that Brooke and I will bring the kids in the future as long as we own a camper. This place has everything we want in a campground: relative seclusion, mountain scenery, nearby restaurants and bars, and plenty for the kids to do. We went with Byronn and Ally and their daughter Olivia. We spent the morning riding the old fashioned steam train through the greater Conway, NH area, which the kids obviously loved, and then spent the remainder of the day at Storyland, a kids theme park that has been a New England staple for 30+ years. We enjoyed the finer parts of camping, such as dinner cooked over an open flame and plenty of bacon, eggs, and coffee for breakfast. Now that we've discovered this gem in the White Mountains three hours north of where we live, we're sure to return a few times each year. Even when the kids outgrow Storyland, there will still be plenty for us to do as a family - which is what camping's all about, right?
