This is my modest attempt at creating a site dedicated to chronicling the adventures of myself, my wife Brooke, and our kids, Hunter, Max, and Shea. What started as a site dedicated solely to a few backpacking trips of Brooke and I has slowly evolved into something a bit more. Feel free to wander around, and keep in mind that this site will be forever undergoing construction.
So this little project of mine started back in the spring of 2009 after stumbling upon a few websites that were owned and developed by people sharing their hiking trips. I got the inkling to do the same after being completely enamored with their detailed trail reports. Brooke and I had just recently come home from our inaugural backpacking trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons, and I foresaw many more adventures for the two of us – perfect website fodder. I dabbled with a few different names for the site before her and I settled on what we have now. Hunter, my middle name, is an old family name dating back many generations to late-1800's Virginia, and we both felt it would make for the perfect site name. Fast forward to today and you can see that our experimental trip out west in 2008 has ignited something within us. Our trips have been sporadic in their frequency, but careers and kids can do that. Luckily for us, our three kids all seem to love the outdoors as much as we do.
